View Full Version : Best (Cheap) Video Editing Software?

I have yet to find a cheap Kodak Zi8 to shoot videos and all that jazz, but I would still like to be prepared with the software. What Windows video software, besides WLMM, do you Vergers recommend? Me being the budget minded tech nerd, I would preferably buy software for less than 100 dollars... I am not part of the 1%. Sigh...

Even though I don’t use it, I’ve heard really good things about PowerDirector (http://www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdirector/overview_en_US.html?&r=1). And you can get the previous version (9) for $49 from Amazon.
Sony Vegas is also excellent, and is worth checking out too.
Happy editing!

I’ve been using CyberLink Power Director for a couple years, it’s pretty functional and powerful for under $100. The learning curve is a little steep but I don’t think you can go wrong for the price.

Dual boot to hackintosh and get iMovie. :)

Adobe Premiere Elements sells for $99 and has lots of capabilities that WLMM hasn’t. Anyway, Movie Maker should do the trick if you don’t want to make complex videos. I would try to explore WLMM with some videos that you already have on your PC and then consider buying Premiere Elements, for example, or any other alternative. Bear in mind: you won’t probably use most of Premiere’s features…
